The Taihu International School always welcomes  non-Chinese  teachers who want to work for one or two semesters at our school, whether their teaching expertise lie  be English, Science, Math, Sports, Music or anything else. We have individuals from China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, Japan, America, France, and Spain come to teach at our school.

Working for our school has both benefits and drawbacks for foreign teachers. In terms of drawbacks, we are located about one hour outside of the Suzhou and Shanghai city limits. While all teachers are given free residence on campus, and provided with free transportation options into and out of Shanghai every day (and encouraged to use them on the weekend where they can explore the city), we have found that many people who come to China want to live in a city rather than in the countryside. That’s the main drawback.

The benefits, however, are manyfold. Because of our unique emphasis, our campus is one of the best places in China to truly learn and practice Chinese culture, and create new Chinese friends for life.   It is also a place where many individuals come to learn the ins and outs of personal spiritual cultivation because they are free to practice meditation and martial arts, or listen to the recorded lectures of Nan Huai-Chin that have been preserved for posterity. Teachers are also free to attend many of our adult training programs we hold on a variety of topics.

If you are interested in working at our school for any length of time, or attending our one-year Teacher’s Training and Certification program that teaches how to teach Chinese culture, please contact the school principal, Dr. Sami Kuo.
